Menezes Memorial Unveiled At Stockwell
Due to jet lag and the need to return to work, I couldn't make it down to the unveiling of the memorial for Jean Charles de Menezes at Stockwell tube station this morning, but Harpymarx has a report. This is one of her photographs - there are more here:
This pretty much marks the end of the Justice4Jean campaign, although there will be more work on updating the website as another permanent memorial. But it has been good to finish on a high note on what would have been Jean's birthday. Transport for London should be congratulated for reaching agreement on the siting of the beautiful mosaic at the station.

Thanks Kevin, it was a poignant day, sad but the memorial is utterly breath taking and beautiful.
This was an historic event for the family of Jean who have battled for justice over many years. We have included a link to the piece via: http://4wardeveruk.org/2010/01/de-menezes-memorial-unveiled/
This however was tinged by an aggressive email from Jason Cobbs who threatened 'action' against us for copyright because we included an excerpt (with a link) to his piece on onionbagblog.com
Just seems odd and somewhat unjust that some one who just days ago was celebrating the victory of one affected family was today threatening another with legal/other action simply for highlighting the piece....
Nevertheless, Justice for Jean and all other affected families.
Peace,
Tippa
