Protest Over Halloween Lynching Display
Ah, celebrating evil... over in the States, the Maryland chapter of the NAACP has protested over the decision by the City of Frederick to hang three dummies from a tree in Baker Park for Halloween. Frederick residents havw complained that the figures evoke pictures of lynchings from the 1920s and 1930s.
The city's Mayor Jeff Holtzinger accused Frederick County NAACP President Guy Djoken of using the mannequins with their white pillowcase heads to stir controversy. Clearing the Mayor thinks that remembering the shameful history of lynchings in the United States is political correctness gone mad. Unsurprisingly, he is a Republican.
